Mumbai Zoo, also known as Veermata Jijabai Udyan, is established in 1861. During British regime, the Garden was named as Victoria Gardens Mumbai. This is located in central Mumbai near Byculla.
This zoo is home to a large variety of birds and many kinds of animals including black bucks, crocodiles, hyena, monitor lizards, foxes and many other species of animals. One other major attraction here is the museum called 'Albert Museum' showcasing many valuables in ancient and modern India. A statue of a mammoth elephant adorns the entrance of the museum, which is sculpted out of rocks.
